Jon Sands, Esq.

Jon Sands has been a trial lawyer for over 42 years in Colorado. His practice has taken him to virtually every venue in the state. A second-generation Colorado native, he is familiar with both jury pools and courts around the state. He has also practiced extensively in the United States District Court for Colorado and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is licensed to practice in the United States Court of Federal Claims.

His practice has been limited to litigation of civil cases involving a wide variety of matters including real estate, title insurance, real estate appraisal process and appraiser liability, partition, cases against officers and directors of financial institutions, professional liability insurance, protection of trade secrets, commercial contract disputes, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, bodily injury and other kinds of civil litigation.

Apartments, 159 P.3d 116 (Colo. 2007), the seminal case before the Colorado Supreme Court that changed arbitration analysis by elimination of the intertwining doctrine in Colorado. He was co-author of The Demise of the Intertwining Doctrine in Colorado©, The Colorado Lawyer, 37-Jan Colo. Law. 21, January 2008, an article featuring that case and its significance to Colorado arbitration practice.
